  1. THE UNIFED THEORY OF MIX TAPES
For me, it's all about the segues-- a random scatter of songs does not a true mix make. A mix deserving of the title features thoughtful arrangements and mindful transitions. While the songs themelves are individual units, together they tell a single story.

  2. OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THIS MIX
Song 1 is the theme from Slumdog Millionaire. The percussive kids' voices in the background feel like bursting out of starting blocks.
Song 2 is the "It puts the lotion in the basket" song from Silence of the Lambs. Pity that it has that particular association, because it's kind of a great song. The "oo-oo-ooo"s sound a little like a wistful train whistle to me.
I should work now. More scintillating song commentary at lunch.

  3. Ok so the thing about the shameful My Chemical Romance song:
Gerard Way writes Umbrella Academy. Therefore... well, suck it, Trebek!

  4. #7 is quickly climbing up my list of new favorite songs. It has this great modernized Irish ballard feel. Love it.
